Arsenal Football Club was founded in 1886 by workers at the Royal Arsenal factory in Woolwich, South London. The club was first known as Dial Square before becoming Woolwich Arsenal and later simply Arsenal. In 1893, Arsenal became a professional club and joined the Football League.
In 1913, Arsenal moved to Highbury in North London. This move helped shape the club into a major force in English football. During the 1930s, under manager Herbert Chapman, Arsenal dominated the game, winning league titles and changing football with new tactics and ideas.
After World War II, Arsenal remained one of England’s strongest clubs. A famous moment came in 1971, when the team won both the league title and the FA Cup in the same season. This success confirmed Arsenal’s place among England’s elite clubs.
The modern era of success began in 1996 with the arrival of Arsène Wenger. Wenger transformed the club with a focus on fitness, nutrition, and exciting attacking football. His greatest achievement came in the 2003–04 season, when Arsenal went unbeaten in the league, earning the nickname “The Invincibles.”
In 2006, Arsenal moved from Highbury to the Emirates Stadium. Today, Arsenal continue to compete at the highest level, supported by millions of fans around the world.
